Home for the Holidays

There is nothing worse

than the holiday ending.

I am still a college student at heart.

Five years past, coming home

from New York my new home

where I had found people like me

to let me in

feels more like fifty,

and I wonder how much I have gained

in all these full years

so that I can’t even hold a memory

without tearing.
